Waterfowl Hunts

Waterfowl Hunts Indiana Our duck hunts are primarily held on river bottom ground. The crop fields that line the river basins are an excellent food source for migrating ducks and geese and the action can be pretty intense when the birds are moving through. Guests will be taken out with experienced guides and retrievers to well scouted locations for their hunt. We'll provide and set up all the decoys, prepare the blinds and call the birds. All you have to do is “Bust'em” in the beak when they come in!

Most duck hunts will be held on the White or Wabash River and River Bottomlands. We are outfitted with river sturdy equipment. All of our boats are wide bottom, modified – V Jon boats and are fitted with blinds to conceal the group for hunting. The river provides excellent scenery in the winter time too. It is common to observe Bald Eagles, Herons, Beaver and many other creatures while navigating and hunting the river. I have found the trips to be rewarding and peaceful with every outing.

Hunts may also take place over flooded fields and layout blinds. We also have standing blinds over flooded timber backwaters that are frequently swamped with birds.

Guests will need to bring clothing warm enough to withstand some pretty frigid temperatures. Waders are preferred, but not necessary. If waders are part of your gear, make sure they have a thinsulate rating of 800 grams or better. Thermal underwear with properties designed to take moisture away from the body such as wool or polypropylene are highly recommended. All jackets, parkas, bibs and or pants should be camouflaged. Face masks will also be needed to keep birds from flaring. Backwater Outlaws does not provide firearms or ammunition. Non toxic shot is required to hunt waterfowl. Please familiarize yourself with all regulations and the necessary license before the hunt.

We really look forward to sharing time with you in the blind this season. Swapping lies, sharing hot coffee or hot chocolate and sitting in the blind with a nice cup of soup while out on the river is an enjoyable experience for everyone. Our duck and goose hunts are a great social event.

See you in the marsh!
