Overview
We specialize in Whitetail Deer and Turkey. It’s our mission to strive for quality vs quantity when it comes to hunting Indiana bucks and gobblers. Our grounds are seldom hunted and are managed to provide the hunter with the best opportunity to bag a trophy Whitetail buck or that elusive trophy Longbeard. Backwater Outlaws achieves this in many ways:
- Food Plots - Our grounds are supported by hundreds of acres of cropland and additional food plots where needed. Mineral licks and supplemental feeders are provided throughout the year to enhance antler growth and winter survival of mature bucks and gobblers. We are proud users of Whitetail Institute of America products.
- Scouting - Although we do utilize trail cameras, nothing replaces first hand field reporting. Our guides spend several hours observing deer patterns and behavior prior to your trip. We will know the best times and locations to give you the best chance to encounter your trophy Indiana Whitetail. We also share a long term commitment and cooperate with Heartland Hunting Consultants. Our combined efforts puts gives our guests the advantage they need to make their trip a success.
- Low Pressure - We lease private farm ground in order to manage the hunting pressure. It is not our goal to put as many hunters on the ground as possible. It is our goal to put as many trophy game animals on the ground as possible. One way we can do this is to manage the hunting pressure. In some cases, we have grounds that are managed for archery only. We have found this to be very successful and provides sanctuary to keep monster bucks and other game in the hunt area.
- Antler Restrictions / Jake Restrictions - Backwater Outlaws does not impose trophy fees on bucks. We feel there is no need to punish the hunter for taking the buck or gobbler of his dreams. However, we do enforce an 8 point (Eastern Count) minimum on bucks and all turkeys must be mature Toms with beards 8 inches in length or more. This will ensure that future hunters will have something to shoot for when they visit next season.
